A Philadelphia native with the heart and soul of an old school vinyl DJ, and the creativity of a modern day “controllerist," he couples traditional vinyl use with new electronic forms, blending them as harmoniously as he does the music he creates. His profound technical understanding and love for the art form combine to create an experience tailored for the client and audience.
LaRue is a graduate of Dubspot electronic music school and the former president of Let Us Do It Entertainment. He also co-hosted the Internet radio show The Foundation with the Boogey Bruthas on Voltaradio.com. Formerly known as DJ Tanner, six years ago Hurricane LaRue joined the biggest Dj company in the US, Scratch Music Group which was founded by Jam Master Jay. Working in the Scratch Events and Scratch Wedding departments, LaRue soars to new heights. From making waves on cruise ships to turning up weddings, corporate events, grand openings and celebrity affairs, LaRue is a versatile and charismatic professional.
Hurricane LaRue has displayed his musical talents at the Firefly Music Festival, and at major celebrity events with 50 Cent, Key & Peele, Method Man, and Christina Milian. He has been featured as the Celebrity DJ on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, providing entertainment to guests from around the world. Corporate clients include Sephora, Macy's, and H&M.
